Blood Diets
Hypoglycemic - Low Sugar diet - -----Description for Hypoglycemic - Low Sugar diet here------
The Blood Type Diet - The blood type diet is a diet advocated by Peter D'Adamo and outlined in his book Eat Right 4 Your Type. Its basic premise is that ABO blood type is the most important factor in determining a healthy diet.
The cornerstone of his theory is D’Adamo’s premise that lectins in foods react differently with each ABO blood type. Throughout his books he cites the works of various biochemists and glycobiologists as support for this theory. In his book, Eat Right 4 Your Type, “Lectins: The Diet Connection”, and in following chapters, lectins which interact with the different ABO type antigens are described as incompatible and harmful, ergo the selection of different foods for A, B, and O types to minimize reactions with these lectins.
D'Adamo bases his ideas on the ABO classification of Karl Landsteiner and Jan Janský, and some of the many other tissue surface antigens and classification systems, in particular the Lewis antigen system for ABH secretor status. D'Adamo has gathered many references pertaining to blood groups on his website.
The evolutionary theory of blood groups, which is also used by D'Adamo, stems from work by William C. Boyd, an immunochemist and blood type anthropologist who made a worldwide survey of the distribution of blood groups. In his book Genetics and the races of man: An introduction to modern physical anthropology, published in 1950, Boyd describes how by genetic analysis of blood groups, human races are populations that differ according to their alleles. On this basis, Boyd divided the world population into 13 geographically distinct races with different blood group gene profiles.

Jenny Craig Alternative - Jenny Craig (born Genevieve Guidroz in 1932 in Berwick, Louisiana) is an American weight loss guru who founded Jenny Craig, Inc.
Raised in New Orleans, Genevieve Guidroz married Australian Sidney H. Craig. Although neither had formal training in nutrition or exercise, Ms Craig developed a weight loss regimen that led to creating a weight-loss company in the mid-1980s with her husband. Their company was one of the pioneers in transforming weight loss into a booming industry. In 1983, she started her first commercial weight loss program in Australia. The success of their program inspired the couple to expand to the huge American market in 1985 where they established headquarters in La Jolla, California, and eventually added weight loss centers in Canada, Puerto Rico and New Zealand.
The couple sold the majority of their interests in Jenny Craig, Inc., in 2002 to ACI Capital, a New York-based private investment firm, and MidOcean Partners, a New York and London-based private investment firm. On June 19, 2006, they announced the signing of a definitive agreement to sell the company to Nestlé in a transaction valued at approximately $600 million.

Type II Diabetes Diet - The Healthy Eating for Type 2 Diabetes is one of the diets, which has been created to help those who of course have Type 2 Diabetes, to manage their condition. Diet can be an extremely important aspect to helping diabetics keep their blood sugar levels in check.
Those who are not familiar with Type 2 Diabetes may be wondering what it is, which is understandable. It is one of the most common forms of diabetes and it is an insulin based disease; which means that the body does not produce enough insulin or that the insulin which is produced is overlooked by the body.
At first glance this may seem that this is not such a “big deal”, however, insulin is needed by the body to manage sugar, which is needed to supply the cells with energy and move energy from the blood to the body’s cells. When this system is thwarted it causes glucose to build up in the body and causes fatigue, susceptibility to infections, infections that heal slowly, blurred vision and frequent urination, as well as other symptoms. It is can also cause damage to the eyes, kidneys, nerves or heart-overtime.
The good news is that diabetes can be controlled through using insulin and/or diet management. This diet is very much based on the concept that diet can help diabetes keep their blood sugar levels in check, which can make a world of difference in terms of health and disease management.
When people are diagnosed with this condition, they are usually in doubt about what kinds of foods they can eat, and wary about the effects food will have on their body. This diet seeks to help them address this and gain a better understanding about what they can eat and the foods they should avoid or limit.
The advice can be boiled down into this one sentence that appears on their website, “Eat a well-balanced diet with a variety of healthy foods, while watching total calories and engaging in physical activity”. Does this sound familiar? It may because it is the advice given to most people who want or need to lose weight; although for diabetics it is a bit more serious.

Low Sodium Diet - Because of our reliance on processed foods, many people consume far more sodium than doctors recommend. Although most diets focus on limiting calories, carbohydrates or carbohydrates, the low-sodium diet promises to improve health by reducing the amount of sodium an individual consumes in a given day.
Although some swear that a low-sodium diet is responsible for their weight loss, doctors typically recommend it to patients with conditions like heart disease or high blood pressure. Although the low-sodium diet includes a number of recommendations that are likely to lead to weight loss and improvements in overall health, maintaining an extremely low sodium intake may be a challenge for some individuals.

Low Carb Diets
Glycemic Impact Diet - The "Glycemic Impact Diet" is a decreased carbohydrate diet based on the glycemic index of foods. The index measures and categorizes carbohydrates based on their glycemic or sugar levels. Simple carbohydrates such as white sugar and flour are at one end of the index and complex carbohydrates such as vegetables and whole grains are on the other. The basics of the diet are similar to the South Beach Diet, The Zone, Sugar Busters, and to a lesser degree the Atkins Diet.
The basic theory is that simple carbohydrates make you retain fat and raise your insulin levels. These diets are healthy, but they are highly restrictive, which creates a fundamental problem in the long-term. Most people fall off the wagon and end up gaining the weight back. I think we all know what that's like. Thinking you can cut out sugar and white flour from your diet forever is a fantasy for most people.
The glycemic index and its recommendations to replace simple carbohydrates with complex ones is a great idea, but probably best followed in moderation for your own mental ability to sustain a lifestyle change. The bottom line is that decreased caloric intake and increased daily exercise is the most sensible and sustainable strategy.

Low Fat Diets
Healthy Vegetarian menus - According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), vegetarians who eat milk products and eggs enjoy excellent health. Vegetarian diets are consistent with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and can meet Recommended Dietary Allowances for nutrients. It is possible to obtain sufficient enough protein from a vegetarian diet so long as the variety and amounts of foods consumed are adequate. Meat, fish, and poultry are major contributors of iron, zinc, and B vitamins in most American diets, and vegetarians should pay special attention to these nutrients.
"Vegans eat only food of plant origin. As animal products are the main food sources of vitamin B12, vegans eat plenty of yeast extract such as Marmite or take supplements to ensure an adequate supply of this Vitamin. Vegan diets, particularly those of children, require care to ensure adequacy of vitamin D and calcium."
Protein is made up of amino acids and the only vegetable sources with all nine types of essential amino acids are soy, hempseed, amaranth, buckwheat and quinoa. There exists a misconception that dietary protein needs to be combined in the same meal. For example, rice and beans, or pita bread and hummous create a source of complete protein. Dairy products and eggs can be part of a healthy lacto-ovo vegetarian diet.
Low-fat diet plan - The Low Fat Diet is low in fat and rich in complex carbohydrates. Animal fats are considered bad for heart disease and some cancers. Fats are limited because fat contains more than twice the calories of other foods and 7 times more easily converted to body fat than carbohydrates. We all need some fat, but no more than about 25 30 percent of calories should come from fat. None us of need the amount or type of fat commonly consumed in the American diet. The low fat diet encourages the consumption of complex carbohydrates. Complex carbohydrates are less fattening, very healthy, less easily converted to body fat and are a great source of energy.

The Sonoma Diet - The Sonoma Diet was developed by Connie Guttersen and is a derivation of the Mediterranean diet. The diet plan consists managing portion sizes and eating approved foods centered around 10 items known as the "power foods". According to the creator of the diet these foods were chosen for their nutritional value and intense flavors. The power foods are: Whole grains, Almonds, Bell peppers, Tomatoes, Broccoli, Grapes, Spinach, Blueberries, Strawberries, Olive oil.
Similar to the Atkins Diet, Zone diet and South Beach Diet, the Sonoma Diet has three distinct stages known as waves. The first phase which lasts 10 days is the most restrictive phase with the smallest number of foods allowed with the smallest portion sizes. During this stage sugar intake is greatly reduced. During the next wave a wider variety of foods are allowed and weight loss slows to a more gradual pace. Wave two continues until the target weight is reached. Wave three is known as the maintenance stage with a wider range of foods being allowed including the occasional dessert.
This diet is not classified as a low-carbohydrate diet or low sugar diet. People following the diet are allowed to eat whole grains, breads and cereals during all three stages of the diet. The plan does recommend avoiding white flour, saturated fats, and recipes with additional sugar. One of the tools used to teach portion management is plate size. For breakfast the diet recommends using an 18 cm (7 inch) plate and for lunch and dinner a 23 cm (9 inch) plate is recommended.
