Muscle Building - The Best Way To Do It With Free Weights

by Blake Johnson

I have been informed that you can't possibly achieve significant development of muscle mass just by using machines, since their main purpose is to give you some support to help you avoid injuries. If you want to get the most from your muscle building routines at the gym, you should concentrate on exercising with free weights rather than using machines and/or ingesting glutamine powder. From what I have learned, to work out effectively for fuller musculature, you need to stimulate your muscle fibers maximally, which doesn't happen with machines.

Your body uses stabilizer and synergist muscles to help build muscle mass, these muscles support the main muscle in doing its work. A good example of this is a bench press or push up. In order to complete the lift, the stabalizer and synergetic muscles assist the main muscle. The major muscle group will never grow if your stabilizer muscles are weak.

In essence, muscle building to get a ripped body and for gaining muscle mass requires free weight exercises, because they put a very large amount of stress on supporting muscle groups. You get tired faster and can't lift as much weight as you would on a machine, but you will gain more muscle mass and become stronger in the process.

In addition, to gain mass in your training in muscle building, you must train with heavy weights. People truly have a misconception of heavy weights. I can recall during my high school days and even in my early corporate career in my 20s, how friends use to brag on the amount of weight they could bench press, and the ongoing debate about building muscle mass.

We all know that muscle is a lot more attractive than fat is. Thus, if you lose weight, you will need to build up more muscle, not just diet to lose the fat. However, there are additional health benefits to natural bodybuilding which will motivate you to go to the fitness center.

First, building muscle will reduce the percentage of body fat, giving you a more toned better-looking body. Muscle mass is about half the size of fat mass. More health benefits of muscle mass is the amount of calories being burned at a quicker rate. Muscle uses energy where as fat stores energy. Having more muscle means burning more calories maintaining a healthier body weight.
